Last updated: April 6, 2026
Welcome to iHatePDF. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website https://ihatepdf.org and the tools provided on it (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Free Service
iHatePDF is provided free of charge for personal and commercial use. No registration, account, or payment is required. All PDF processing happens locally in your browser.
2. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- use the Service to process documents you do not have the right to modify;
- use the Service to bypass copyright protection, DRM, or any technical measures intended to protect intellectual property;
- use the Service to remove passwords from PDFs you do not own or have permission to unlock;
- attempt to disrupt, attack, or reverse-engineer the Service;
- scrape, mirror, or rehost the Service without our permission;
- use automated tools to abuse or overload the Service.
3. Your Files
iHatePDF processes your PDFs entirely in your browser. We do not receive, store, or transmit your files. You retain all rights to your files at all times. You are solely responsible for the content of files you process and for ensuring you have the legal right to use them.
4. No Warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any output will meet your specific requirements.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, iHatePDF and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of business, or damage to your device — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
You are responsible for keeping backups of your original files. Always verify processed files before discarding originals.
6. Intellectual Property
The iHatePDF brand, logo, design, and source code (excluding open-source components used under their respective licenses) are owned by us. The tools rely on open-source libraries including pdf-lib, PDF.js, and others, used in accordance with their licenses.
7. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party sites and provide such links for convenience only.
8. Modifications to the Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updates will be reflected by changing the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by applicable laws without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from your use of the Service shall be resolved through informal negotiation first, and if necessary, in a court of competent jurisdiction.
